DEER HAIR POPPER

Back before they had ready made popper heads, they did it like this. It pops but not as much as the foam popper head. It has pretty good buoyancy but the best part of it is that it dives. Not exactly an easy pattern to tie, it takes a bit of practice but its worth it.   

Materials

Hook ( Gamakatsu B10s)

Deer Hair 

Hackles 

Flashabou 

Bucktail

As usual, dress the hook with thread

Tie on some buck tail or any fibers you like, it doesn't really matters I just love how buck tail is in the water

Add some flashabou for added attraction

Tie on a pair of hackles any hackle would be fine but split it at the hook

Tie on some hackle to wrap around the hook

Wrap the hackle around the hook, this helps make it weedless 

The fun part, finish up all you deer hair lol. Add a bunch of deer hair , be sure to wrap twice lightly then pull tightly so the deer hair will twist around the hook 

Annnnndd some more deer hair  =D and whip finish.

Then trim the deer hair till it takes the shape of a popper head . 

This is an option you could do. Add some epoxy and stick on a pair of 3D eyes and your done.
