RED HEAD SURF CANDY

A fairly simple fly to tie . Works really well for Peacock Bass, Snake Heads, Baramundi ,Red Drums and other predatory fish . And I'm doing it a Red Head color usually seen on poppers and pencils .

Materials
Hook
Buck Tail
Crystal Flash / Flashabou
3D eyes
Epoxy

First dress the hook with the thread up to the hook bend . I am using a Daiichi Hook #6

Tie in some white buck tail and be sure to tie just behind the hook eye to create the body.

Tie some crystal flash and add more buck tail on top .

To get the red head look , use a Sharpie to color the thread or you can use a red thread if you're not lazy like me , and then whip finish.

Now change to a mono thread and tie some flashabou as the lateral scale line and whip finish.

Stick on a pair of 3d eyes and start applying the epoxy . The trick is , put as much epoxy as you can 1st , then spread it by turning your vise around till you get the look that you want . And be sure to apply it over to the hook bend or the buck tail could be caught at it .

There you have , less than 15 minutes to tie . It does requires a little practice to shape the epoxy perfectly.

Happy Tying :)
